how to belong....

Jubilant & proud to be living to see Indian Independence turn 75. Freedom is never granted it has to be earned and having done so, every generation has to continue earning it for its people. We also need to take responsibility for our thoughts and actions how to belong to the country we live in.

Belonging to a country is holding a sense of purpose, meaning, respect, commitment discipline and much understanding. It is just not about receiving but giving too. All is crucial to our life’s satisfaction, happiness, safety, mental-physical health and even longevity. The country will not be a good place for any of us to live unless we make it a good place for all of us to live in.

India until year 2030 is estimated having the highest youth population in the world. Honestly not always can we build the future for our youth but surely can build our youth for the future. Our hope for a better future lies in the youths with character, obedience, intelligence, renouncing all for service to others, good to themselves and all others. Seniors need to take some responsibility to contribute in nurturing our youth be it at home, work place, professional training institutions, motivational speakers etc.

The youth must be consciousness of India’s great past, ensuring to know its history but beyond an academic syllabus. This will truly bring an understanding of integrity, morals, values, sacrifices and how community living was then. Awareness of our rich past is important to take pride and continue its legacy. India/Bharat/Hindustan has contributed much to the world with discoveries/inventions right from ancient times. Ancient dentistry (700BC), Ayurveda (5000BC), Weighing scales (2400BC), Plastic surgery (2000BC), Pythagorean theorem (700BC), The Zero, Yoga, Buttons, USB, Cataract Surgery, world’s first university… and much more. Our achievements must dominate our failures and the spirit of India fair & first must prevail.

A prayer by all; that better sense prevails with our youth and their minds will correct our political culture from largely accepting 3 big lies. The first being a political opponent is one, with whom always to disagree and also hate them. The second is that if you love someone, you must agree with everything they believe or do. Both are nonsensical as you don’t have to compromise convictions to be compassionate. Thirdly any investigating agencies enquiries can be overcome by attracting public sympathy and pleading an opposition’s planned vendetta.

@75 surely the public understands; ‘Truth should not mind being questioned because it is lies which never likes being challenged.”

Religion is sacred when it lives in your heart, home or the religious institution nowhere else. Sikh Gurus and their disciples have given lives to safe guard others religion. @75 we should be wise to realise faulty sense of belonging being exhibited with sense of division. The most inauspicious place debating about any religion is a news channels. All Holy Scriptures writings mention the presence of the divine within other beings. The minds spreading religious hatreds do not know their own religion.

Post-Independence how to belong to a country, a soldier’s commitments qualifies the best. Many of our own providing security have died in action fighting the enemy/terrorism ensuring the safety of all citizens. Ironically some dis oriented citizens indulge in enemy like activities bringing insecurity within country they live.

We need to respect our soldier’s sacrifices and need a change in our

Hosh to come close to their Josh.

Happy Independence Day
