Place for everything, everything in its place

1st year of lockdown for all ages was indeed a challenge unlike anything before. Many young parents had difficulty managing kids and domestic chores. Most minds were highly disoriented & frustrated; a grandfather in one such family saw it in his grandchildren. One day he took them to the kitchen, placed 3 utensils with water to heat and added an egg, potato and some tea leaves in them. After ten minutes he peels the egg and potato then separates the leaves. The elderly mind explained that each item was placed into the same circumstances of boiling water but they responded differently. The egg was soft but now hard, potato was hard now soft and the tea leaves changed the water. When adversity calls, we respond in the same manner but as humans are lucky to choose.

The grandfather’s reasoning brought a change in behavior of the younger generation. Grandparent’s blessings and wisdom are to be received and it is possible when they are with the family and not admitted to old age homes. A special prayer today being Father’s Day for all elderly parents to receive God’s continued grace and the above 9words phrase be true in having their place in family, living with dignity, support and care.

The 9 words phrase helps me conduct my religion within me, my home and within my religious institutions. These places are where divinity is in its purity. Gurbani says of all the religions, the best religion is to chant the name of the Lord and maintain pure conduct. If we all strictly conduct ourselves within the divine designate places, celebrating all festivals in neighbourhood is possible and no one dare instigate religious divide.
