The pains develop when taking to a profession is just all about giving oneself a label/work position and then using professional gains selfishly and wrongly. People see professionals as possessing special knowledge, education, skills derived from research, training at a high levels and then to exercise their skills in the interest of others. Most professions have well defined code of ethics to govern activities of the respective professions. They also extend guide lines in respect of the high standards of behaviour in respect of services provided to the public and dealing with the colleagues. However indicators of integrity, ethics, trust and expertise seem missing with certain professional’s contributing to their personal pains and a wrong influence to society.
If civil engineers created concrete structures develop easy cracks, if advertisers promote products cheating consumers mind for poor product’s efficacy than claimed, if lawyers who delay, defend/misconstrued truth abusing the system, if doctors do not keep their profession noble; all such professionals and in other professions too compromising with unethical behaviour only brings upon themselves mental, emotional pains and gradually loosing on to human bonding’s. For long I wondered why spirituality seemed an alien concept in M.B.A. programs, where many students are only obsessed with landing jobs that pay six-figure salaries. Institution do well in grooming out strategist, marketer, entrepreneurs, and leaders but with the absence of inculcating spiritual consciousness they are unable to address that part of them to lead a more integrated life, in fact the same breed considers it a taboo to work for workers spirituality. Those who were to train others with human values at their workplace are themselves wanting.
That cash does not cut is what some entrepreneurs are realising as people are searching for meaning in their lives and their work. According to a psychological research, money certainly matters and necessarily boosts satisfaction, but as people have different motives depending on one’s personality it can make one feel worse about carrier when their basic drives are neglected. No wonder lots of people wind up taking jobs that they probably shouldn’t. What influences is something that gives Autonomy: a choice over what you are doing, the people you are working with. Proficiency: working on a challenge that is just outside your current skill level, causing you to level up to complete it and importantly my take too Purpose: working for money isn’t purpose, but working on things that better humanity. Let’s redefine success from “how much material wealth, power, control, or fame you have acquired” to “how much I have contributed to humanity and the environment and other livings).”
Pain is what happens to us, suffering is what we do with that pain. While for some changing one’s perception of this concept may be difficult, but it is possible. Be aware conscious commerce or business consciousness will serve the best interests of You, your customers, employees, owners, vendors and help build a better society and a stronger nation. “Sarbat Ka Bhalla”
