Protection Without Awareness Lacks Safety
Protection is a natural instinct. The drive to protect and to seek protection is deeply ingrained in every human being as a survival mechanism.
The Human mind, influenced by emotions and perceptions, shapes our actions, habits and decisions. These decisions influence our health, business, relationships, education and every aspect of our living.
Navigating life’s challenges, we seek protection from many aspects of our lives, often forgetting that nothing is permanent and nothing truly belongs to us alone. We choose unimportant things to protect. We are protecting things with wrong means of protection. We think we are protecting but we are not the protector. We need protection, but do not reach out to The Protector our creator.
As defence mechanism to our various self-protection behaviours, we try to shield ourselves from various external and internal threats, but what we actually do:
We protect possessions but neglect character. We protect our image but ignore our integrity. We protect our body but neglect our mind. We protect our mind but forget our soul.
The wealth, status, power, influence, locks insurance, relationships and even ego provide only limited protections. They all have their boundaries. Protection is not about avoiding danger; it is about living so wisely that fewer dangers are created by our own ignorance.
It is important to know our protection is wise or misplaced. Without awareness, we often overlook the simplest and most effective protective measures.
‘Truth is the thing that protects one from chasing the stuff that will rather quickly end up chasing one.’
‘Don’t let people pull you into their storm. Know your worth protect your identity.’
‘Time is the most precious resource there is – one has to protect it.’
Those who consider themselves powerful, need protection by those who have their own limitations.’
‘There is no greater warrior than a mother protecting her child.’
‘Economic growth and environmental protection can and should go hand in hand.’
‘Protect your spirit from contamination, by limiting your time with negative people.’
‘When you love someone, you protect them from pain - you do not become their cause.’
‘For your purpose in life, the best way is to protect thoughts in mind and energy is keeping focus on what matters.’
‘Patience is always protecting one from deception.’
‘Protecting what belongs to one is easier when, what belongs to another is not attached.’
You cannot protect yourself from sadness without protecting your happiness.
The greatest danger is not that we are unprotected; it is that we mistake the illusion of protection for true safety.
We often believe we are the protector, forgetting that we ourselves are being protected every moment. Gurbani reminds us that while we perform our duties responsibly, the deepest security comes from living in Hukum and remembering the creator.
Let Awareness choose what deserves protection. Let Wisdom choose how to protect it, and Let Faith remember Who the true protector is.
