One uses more to indicate that there is a greater amount of something than before or than average, or than something else. Today’s culture propagates that we can solve our problems by getting more; more money, more possessions, more comforts. But does getting more make us satisfied?
Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate and to humble. The choice of words is very important as they can cause specific areas of the brain to activate and affect person's needs, desires, wants, feelings, decisions, relations, health, goals etc. An approximately 7000 words a day are spoken by an average person. Among a list of 1000 most common words, more is one of them. More for most things is always desired for, but what we choose it for is often not the best taken.
A breeze of short learning’s to better the choice of things we ask for more. Beginning with let’s keep our needs less, you will have more.
Many focus on how life looks but how life feels must be more important. A misuse of giving more to imagination makes one suffer more in imagination than in reality. Giving more importance to know who you are and what one wants, this way there will be less things to be upset about. It may also help bring a realization what you don’t know which is more useful than being brilliant.
Individuals who have more than they show, speak less than they know are good company. Each day they pursue knowing more than whom they were. For them their learning is not just going into the world to do well but more importantly going into the world and do good. Their view on highest use of capital is not to make more, but to make money do more for the betterment of sarbat ka bhalla.
The mind’s obsession with more can even make us destructive. The Bhagavad-Gita does spell how the craving for more and more money can make people depraved – they cast aside their morality, humanity and spirituality while doing whatever it takes to fulfil their desires.
It is true together everyone achieves more but if you are more on judging people, likely there is less one enjoys and works with others company. Keeping things simple does work; more smiling, less worrying. More the compassion less is judgement. More blessed less stressed. More love less hate.
Be more creative as the more you use it the more you have it and importantly creativity is seeing what others see and thinking what no one else ever thought. It’s like kindnesses most people do but your creative kindness loves more people, more than they deserve.
Gurbani too cautions everyone cries out “More! More! With the idea of receiving”
“garab gahilarho moorh-rho hee-o ray”. “My foolish heart is in the grip of pride. By the Will of my Lord God, maya, like a witch, has swallowed my soul. More and more, he continually yearns for more; but unless he is destined to receive, how can he obtain it? He is entangled in wealth, bestowed by the Lord God; the unfortunate one attaches himself to the fire of desires. Listen, O mind, to the Teachings of the Holy Saints, and all your sins shall be totally washed away.” SGGS Ang715
Worldly desires can keep influencing but ensure the Name of the Lord, is ‘more’ dearer than one’s mind, body and wealth. As undoubtedly in the end when one departs, it shall be the only help and support.
