An Indian Revenue Service officer retired as Principal Chief Income Tax Commissioner was speaking to a group of youngsters. The officer said when he was selected for IRS his parents had a spiritual teacher educate him on spiritual secrets of wealth. In his 35 years of service he accumulated a wide range of experiences and understandings about human behavior with money. He could tell people their thoughts about God after knowing what they think about money.

His observations about some people; more the money, less worthy it seemed. What one does to get money and how the money is managed determines one’s life style. People flaunt money to keep their social visibility. Many go overboard with toxic money habits that bring about bad financial behaviour like lying about how much money they have, shopping away one’s feelings and relying on loans and credits, rather than what they possess. It is unfortunate people tend to value incorrectly and pursue indiscriminately acquiring and hoarding money. In one IT raid in a house unaccounted wealth was stacked in a prayer room and the parents put up in the servant’s room although there was a vacant bedroom. What worth is this money? Without a rich heart wealth is an ugly beggar.

Money unmasks people. In recent times the newly wed couples enjoy their economic independency but when that dominates the required compromises, sacrifices and adjustments in a relationship, the differences multiply to settle for early divorce.

Senior citizens being separated without fair settlements, uncaring even though there is no source of income for survival.

An elderly wealthy person of a large family disputed a Will for years. For the greed of little more the individual enjoyed nothing from the Will as the individual died before any settlement.

Manipulations in business profits are common; they starve employee’s compensations, deprive nation of its dues and neglect their social welfare role.

Money is directly responsible for the decline of spiritualism in modern society. Using people and loving money has encouraged greed and acquisition. While it is possible to make money without being evil, unending desires urge humans to exploit others resulting in frauds, thefts, dacoits, murder etc. Whoever deeply loves money-never has enough. Whoever deeply loves wealth-is never satisfied.

There is a lot nobler side to money if we know and realize it is the Creator who gives each of us the ability to produce wealth. Claiming 'I' did it all is a beginning to all wrongs and evils. “When you act with respect and integrity with money, yours and that of other people in family or other dependents in your life are more likely to be in good financial standing”. With this learning the officer exercised & managed his money and to this date he and his extended family are reaping Divine’s grace.

Wealth to translate into being worthy one needs a spiritual element within. The giving and taking of money must always be just, fairly and promptly done. Realizing God wants us to share and if one does charity, that’s expressing gratitude to the Giver. During financial hardship days, good Karmas qualify for Divine’s rewards and strange are His ways & resources to reward; a family member does well and becomes the means to support; it could be a relative, a friend or an associate being the means.

An officer and a gentleman’s parting words “Money earned wrongfully brings no spiritual earnings and its charity is worthless. Absence of money can create hardships, but its presence doesn’t always create good life.

Why be rich with money not worthy;

Possess HIS Naam a wealth good for two worlds.
