A vital question but when did I ask myself. Gurbani follows it with an equally important ask...

“K karam kamaeeia Thudh Sareeraa Jaa thoo jag mehi Aaieiaa. (what actions have you committed O my body since you came into this world.)

We all will have volumes to talk about and each of our actions so different, sounding so special but they all pursue some desire that in future it returns rewardingly and positively. Generally humans treat life as a bag of treasure to be lived acquiring worldly possessions for some happiness from something somewhere. In this treasure hunt diseased with greed one surrenders to activities procuring materialistic gains for now or some future, but none of that stays permanently with us.

Ever wondered what our Gurus recommendations are. What does our Creator wants us to achieve, is it more materialistic wealth, is it to live in comfort. We need to evolve our thinking and Gurbani gives us a way.

Bhee parapath manukh dhaehureaa.( The human body is given to you), gobind Milan ke eih thareea.(this is your chance to meet the lord of the universe). Guruji wants us to change the perception about what our life is. His expressions are that Life is the one thing that unifies all of us and everything. He, she you, me, plants, animals etc. have the same energy the same life force. Everything spills out of this energy. Life causes the sun to burn brightly, life causes the planets to revolve around, life brings in many creations and the temporally ones are recycled back to life to create something new. Life is not just from the time you were born until you die but the reality is Life is the unending story started at the beginning of time, the story continues for billions of years and will continue long after you are gone. Sadly somewhere we forgot the big picture, the main plot and the main character. We humans are just a micro story a tiny little blink we call it Me. This me lives in hope of finding some happiness round every corner and lives in anxiety, wanting to get rid of their emptiness with worldly desires.

Acknowledge the emptiness, Gubani calls this as dukh and everyone is diseased with dukh. Guru says dhukh/suffering is the medicine and pleasure the disease, where there is pleasure there is no desire of God. This body is the home of Dharma. Divine light of the true lord is within it and hidden within it are the jewels of true happiness. Isn’t it strange the lord who formed your form you have not enshrined that lord in your mind. Inside all of us there is something amazing, nothing outside comes close. But something is in the way and that is Houme ‘ME’. We can boss to manage business empires but the Me is tough to tame. Those who look outside the body searching for the lord shall not receive the Naam. To ask for any other than you lord, is the most miserable of miseries. Through the word of the Gurus shabad, selfishness and conceit is eliminated and yes, subduing egotism the rigid doors are opened. Deep within the divine light will dawn and the darkness of ignorance will be dispelled. HE himself is hidden and HE himself is revealed,

Praying for sarbat ka bhalla and I too be blessed with HIS Naam. O my mind you are the embodiment of the divine light – recognize your own origin. Come lets experience ’Ek Onkar’ in this life.
