Sanjog started calling the elderly man whispering baba. After a break to drink coconut water the baba tells Sanjog with intensity the few life whispers we spoke and the more hearing we develop it brings a change in our perspective to move through life with a sense of trust, instead of asking why this is happening to me you ask what this is teaching me.

To see life as struggles, challenges as sufferings especially by many in recent generations it is a reflection of how they relate their conditions, circumstances and self-imposed reasons they believe in. It’s hard for most to accept life is not against you but working for you. To resist change even if it is for one’s own good, to fear the unknown and stay comfortable with what one is familiar, is becoming a common trait and a poor influence.

Life operates with wisdom greater than our limited understanding and since we do not see the life our way, we panic grieve and feel lost. An individual who has never been challenged remains untested and what is untested is unproven.

To act without understanding is to lose the treasure of this human life. The precious gift of human life becomes fruitful when one chants the True Word of the Shabad. In the Shabad (scriptures) are teachings for humanity to learn and conduct one’s worldly activities. The mind needs to be trained to accept trials and errors as opportunities and not tragedies. Every moment of our actions and thoughts we should be accountable; every breath we get has to be made fulfilling.

Know the teachings: when you face financial struggle you learn resourcefulness. When you face heart break you learn inner strength and when in failure you learn persistence. These teachings shape a person to be capable for greater things, if you resist it persists and only gets worse if one becomes bitter, angry & frustrated.

The plans we make dreams we build, attachments we form is in believing that most things will stay forever. We deny ourselves the understanding life has a way of taking things from us it could be people, relationship, opportunities, jobs, comforts and sometimes deeply held beliefs and when it does some are devastated.

Gurbani explains life as a journey with a purpose not a mere coincidence centred around breaking the cycle of birth and death and merging with the divine. It emphasizes to live in the present moment, performing good deeds, and remembering the divine name (Naam). A basic important self-realization is to understand the temporary nature of the material world and the permanence of the soul.

One has to make an effort in exchanging whispers with God for it is this experience that abandons all screams within and the world is never loud to interrupt your whispers. The regular connect with whispers brings a change never to see the self as suffering but someone who is evolving.

In conclusion baba tells Sanjog every one begs for happiness no one asks for suffering. In the wake of happiness, there comes great suffering (Sukh – Dukh). To understand and manage this is to be blessed in a state of Santok (contentment).  Getting used to listening to whispers within one’s heart is the remembrance and expression of knowing the creator. The whispers will remind forgiveness when you have judged another and recall opportunities for healing when you feel hurt.

Sanjog who had come celebrate his academic graduation felt his 2nd graduation more dominating, he thanked the baba, promising him among all the sights and sounds he chooses, life whispers will not be a miss.
