Historical religious events will occasionally feature as SAKHI’s increasing our awareness as to how many souls conducted themselves expressing their love to the lord. Some souls deep in sin are cleansed when they pursued His path with Naam - Simran. You never know when an act of yours by a wish from any of Gods creations could bring divine action of blessings.
Tuglak Badhsha noticed a man salvaging food from a garbage dump. This sight put him thinking, why and how he was blessed with such wealth and power, what is it that made him receive such blessings. He visited and questioned an enlightened person, who asked the Badhsha to come the next day so that he could connect with the divine to look into his past. The following day the Badhsha is told that in his last life he was a hunter. During a hunt in the jungle he saw a fawn (baby deer). Instead of killing it he got down from the horse, lifted the fawn and started to ride his horse. Soon a deer started following him, keeping close distance all along. The hunter realised it is the fawn’s mother following him in spite of the dangers of being captured or killed as they were approaching the village. The hunter felt pity got down from the horse and released the fawn. United, the mother deer started licking her fawn to check if there were any injuries caused by the hunter and was happy there was none. The deer realised the hunter’s kindness and raised her front legs to the sky calling upon the Creator to bless the hunter with much abundance that he may not imagine for having mercy and not harming them. The enlightened man told the Badhsha this life of yours in royalty is the creator’s blessings to that kind deed you did.
Kindness and protection to animals must be part of humans concern as they are beings of the same Creator we worship. The scriptures say “all creations praise God, even if the praise is not expressed in human language.” “Even kings and emperors, with mountains of property and oceans of wealth-these are not even equal to an ant, who does not forget God”. SGGS Ang 6.
Animals are not merely resources but creatures dependent on God. They have their own lives, purpose, valuable to them and to God.
