Taming behavior is all about how one acts and for which one has to always be responsible no matter how one feels. Behavior is a response to things that are happening internally with thoughts and feelings, externally with the environment including other people.
It is said human behavior is influenced from 3 sources desire, emotion and knowledge. In this case more knowledge does not necessarily translate into better behavior. Some of our behaviors are said to be instinctual, others are conscious choices resulting from a complex interaction between genetics and the environment, including emotional and physical actions and reactions. Behavior plays key role in survival and impacts the culture which sums up behavioral patterns shared in a society.
Gone seem the days when behavior for learning was an approach in understanding and developing among the young to focus on their relationship with their self, with others and with the curriculum. In the absence of the behavioral learning, common are the unpleasant behavioral styles that people express being upset, aggressive and assertive. There has to be a concern to the dangerous trend of mass behavior response as hysteria, rumor's, gossip, fads and fashions people freely and consciously indulge in. Worse are mass behavioral responses to communal outrages, political narratives/influence, biased news media propaganda and social media excessive which are damaging societies, organization's and even homes. SMS contents that are forwarded without knowing the authenticity or verifying facts is one of the most irresponsible behavior of most mobile users. Think like Socrates if what you are about to tell you are not sure it’s the truth, nor good nor even useful, why tell it at all. As an admin in one WhatsApp group questioning the message sender to disclose the mobile number of his source who forwarded him the message resulted in almost negligible inciting forwards being posted in that group.
There is great need to learn the context in which interactions take place, how we encounter them is how our learning’s have been. Organization’s seem to realize the heart of effective behavior is building positive relationships thus organization impart professional training to help staff organize their thinking about problematic behaviors and to developing proactive skills that focus on prevention and respect. Homes that have left behavioral learning to children for their self-learning need to exercise their responsibility.
We all know behavior is a reflection of one’s character, behavior never lies, and good behavior mostly wins every enemy. Wonder why people have stopped rewarding good behavior encouraging its repetition. It happens one’s behavior is the result of others behavior, but do not allow other people’s behavior to turn you into a person you are not and to the extent it destroys your inner peace. While time decides who you meet in your life, heart decides who you want in your life it is your behavior that decides who will stay in your life.
A failure of not watching your own behavioral reflections could well become a reason of losing relations you once enjoyed. Likewise a caution to those who think they are always right and are smart to notice a change in others attitudes but fail to notice their own inappropriate behavior that caused the other to change. At times bad behavior comes from insecurity if you recognize it hate the behavior not the individual.
A biblical saying on behavior “ If the Holy Spirit is living within us, the natural outpouring of behaviors will be “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control”
